Three kinds of evidence
"Maker lists this model" means the manufacturer names the exact model on a live page we read. "From the maker's archived page", "from the brand's licensed store" and "maker lists a sibling model" mean the statement is on an archived copy of the maker's page, on a store the brand licenses to sell its parts, or on a live maker page that names a sibling variant (a Core 300-P page for a Core 300) rather than the exact model. "Retailer claim only" means only a retailer or third party claims the fit; those models are listed but not promoted, and their pages say so.
What we record
For each fact (which filter, the part number, how many, how often) we keep the page address, the kind of source, the day we read it and the words we relied on. Those appear on every model and filter page under Sources.
How we read
We read individual public pages one at a time, at a human pace, and record only facts. We copy no descriptions, images or manuals, and we link to the maker's page rather than reproduce it.
Traps we watch for
- Suffixes that change the filter: a Winix 5500 and 5500-2 take different filters, and a Levoit Core 300 and Core 300-P are listed separately by Levoit.
- Quantity per unit: one Honeywell HPA300 takes three Filter R cartridges, so its buy button leads with the 3-pack.
- Renamed listings: when a maker renames a filter page, we keep the archived copy as evidence for the older models it used to name.
- Interval wording: we use the maker's current phrasing, including "up to" and "depending on usage".
- Any one of several: a media air cleaner cabinet holds one filter, and the maker lists several grades for it. We list every genuine option, lead with the one the maker ships with the cabinet or names as its choice, and say so.
Corrections
If a fit is wrong or a part number has changed, tell us. We check against the manufacturer before changing a page.
